Welcome to the 2nd WASLI Oceania Conference 2025!

From your Co-Chairs, Celesiga Drauna and Susan Emerson

It is with great joy and heartfelt excitement that we, along with the Organising Committee and WASLI Regional Representatives, warmly invite you to join us for the very first WASLI Oceania Conference in 2025!

We are so proud to host this historic event in the stunning and culturally rich city of Nadi, Fiji—a perfect setting to bring our region together. From 26–29 August 2025, we’ll gather at the welcoming Tanoa International Hotel under the theme: “One Ocean, Many Cultures.”

This theme reflects the beautiful diversity of our region and the deep connections we share through our languages, cultures, and communities. Together, we will celebrate our profession, learn from one another, and build strong foundations for the future of sign language interpreting across Oceania.

Our programme is designed to inspire and connect. Expect powerful keynote speeches, lively panel discussions, engaging workshops, and thought-provoking research presentations. We’ll explore key topics such as interpreter education, ethical practice, sustainability, and the evolving roles of interpreters in our ever-changing world.

But this conference is about more than just professional development—it’s about people. It’s about community. We invite you to experience the warmth and hospitality of Fijian culture through our cultural evening, shared meals, and social events that will leave lasting memories and friendships.

We can’t wait to welcome you to Fiji—to connect, to share, and to grow together. Let’s make history, together.

See you in Nadi!

With warm regards,
Celesiga & Susan
